About this grant

This project supports the continued development of a long term link between WAU Teaching Hospital in South Sudan and Poole NHS Foundation Trust to support and help develop medical and nursing services. The link supports training of medical and nursing staff with long term improvements confirmed by audit. The link has been active since 2009. Four training visits have been completed since the initial visit in 2009. In 2010, the project also funded a six week placement for a Consultant Obstetrician from WAU at Poole for training in basic obstetric ultrasound. An ultrasound machine was also sent to WAU. A 6 week placement was also arranged for a Poole Consultant Physician in January 2012. Current funding will pay for two training trips per year of the grant.
